Founder of Child and Teen Solutions (CATS)

Dr. Karen Pavlidis, the founder of Child and Teen Solutions (CATS) in Seattle, Washington sought out the ND Core team for training to enhance her staff's understanding of children's behavioral challenges. Dr. Erica Anderson, a licensed clinical psychologist and developmental methods expert, stepped in to provide virtual training on utilizing the Disruptive Behavior Diagnostic Observation Schedule (DB-DOS), an observational method designed for assessing disruptive behavior in preschool-aged children.

"Our team had a great experience with the DB-DOS training workshop. Dr. Erica Anderson has incredible expertise not just about DB-DOS implementation but also about early childhood mental health. We learned a great deal about early childhood indicators of elevated risk for later psychopathology.  During the training, Dr. Anderson shared helpful video examples of DB-DOS administration and the various levels of child responses. We really appreciated that Dr. Anderson was available for questions after the training as we started to apply the tool in our setting. She was always responsive and thoughtful with our questions."

Measure Implementation

Since the training, our team has enjoyed using the DB-DOS in our clinical practices. The DB-DOS has been a great adjunct to the ADOS-2 for our younger clients who struggle with behavior dysregulation.  We have found that the protocols have helped us to zero in on both challenges and strengths in our clients' self-regulation capacities. We have become sharper observers, thanks to the DB-DOS!
